Foundations of Form UPDATED

Some new course materials!

The original version of the Foundations of Form course about the essentials of Linear Perspective was built to last only 2 weeks as an introduction to a semester course. Due to university time limits, it stopped with the “distorted” perspective exercise for students. Maybe not the most perfect point to leave off, but it makes a great point about the effects of perspective before moving onto more intensive activities.

Still....

I’ve wanted to update it for a while and I did for a recent (now concluded) partnership, I finally created, recorded, processed and added in a new “final” project and a new “bonus” or creative project as the final two chapters. This added 18 new lessons (along with other videos that needed updating for it to make sense) and a little under 300 minutes of course material. I include all the reference etc.

One of the big things I try to convey with this course is that are all you need are some simple tools, nothing expensive or difficult to source. Really just some paper, a straight edge and some pencils and pens and you’re all set.

The new Final Project shows some simple trick and the reasons why you use them, to more accurately represent scenes in perspective.

The new Creative Project shows you how to manipulate reference in order take something in the real world well beyond what you see in out and about or in your collected reference.
