Since 2004 Peter has been bringing his professional experience working with major and minor clients, galleries and game studios back to the classroom to help them build an expansive skill set founded in practical skills that make professionals.
You can find his 144 foot long mural in Maverik gas stations in the Rocky Mountains West in the USA, his concepts influencing AAA games and paintings adorning galleries and homes.
More importantly you can find his students in the credits of major blockbusters, games, galleries and some as educators.
These days you can find Peter working in his studio or out in the woods painting and drawing. He’s often online streaming or in front of the classroom helping tomorrow’s professional artists achieve their goals at Virginia Commonwealth University as a tenure track research assistant professor.
with the right skills and portfolio, could I go here?👇
Of course!
Check out the cards below for a quick overview of the courses and resources contained in the membership!
There’s even more to come as the site gets updates.
Additionally…
included is a subscriber’s only home page that puts the courses in an easy to follow sequence. Each course has bite-sized modules and lessons that give the theory and practice for each and every principle being mastered.
Just enough information to move the follow-along project forward. Breaking it down this way makes it easy to know exactly what I learned and why it matters!
fun fact: the instruction here is so good, one professor ripped the videos from this site and is just playing them for instruction in class, not even demoing himself how to draw… another at that university asked to access the site temporarily to review some of the videos before starting up the semester.
and…what do they pay for each day they’re in class again?

From what I’ve seen, purchased individually, and subscribed to since online education became common is that most if not nearly all online art education sites are designed as Master Classes. Courses that cover a specific method used by a professional artist limited to their style and profession. Often the subscription sites feature dozens of different artists, which can be confusing for a beginner.
They are extremely helpful when you are in the right place in your development, but if you’re a beginner (or a confused advanced student) they can get in your way. Often there’s a lot of underlying experience and knowledge (sometimes forgotten foundations…) that they don’t explain or assume others understand. This means that you may get a superficial good looking result, but you’ll spend a lot of time later filling in the gaps you didn’t know where there.
The courses on this site are built based on feedback from real students’ experiences with the material in the classroom. The layout assumes you have a lot of love for the arts but not a lot of structured experience. Students find that refreshing.
Additionally I’ve taught at multiple universities and different levels of students from Freshmen to Seniors. That helps me see where the gaps happen and how to prepare for them.
It also helps me give you the links across subjects and materials. How does perspective relate to figure drawing? How does still life drawing relate to painting landscapes? What principles unify white chalk drawings on black paper to 3D sculpting on your ipad?
Those links matter.
It’s very easy. I get instant access to all the currently available and upcoming self-guided courses for an easy to afford monthly or annual price. Each course was created with easy to follow and clearly demonstrated activities, concepts and projects. Each of those are divided into mostly bite-sized 15 minutes or less lessons to go over each concept one by one while also relating it to the whole course through activities and the applied projects. Also, there’s a sequence of courses that takes you from a very simple understanding to a much more complex ones. Students can also skip around and favorite lessons too, depending on what your interests are.
You get instant access to all available the courses created by me through the site. Right now there are
I have taught live online courses before through my universities and individually. None are currently available, but they could be in the future depending on interest level.
Individual coaching could also be an option.
If you’d like to work with me live in the classroom, I currently teach at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Communication Arts department as an assistant professor of concept design. We’re always looking for talented students to join us.
I have done this in the past, but its not currently available. I may bring it back on a limited basis depending on student interest. I do include examples of my work in the course materials to show general examples of how results work.
For now you can message me during live streams if you have questions and I should be able to help you out then.
Yes. The site has been tested on iPads and iPhones. Optimally I recommend using a desktop in order to benefit the most. Larger videos and images can really help, but mobile does work when you’re on the go!
Not a problem! Each course lists recommended materials and many with links to access them. Depending on the course, the specific medium may not matter, since the concepts or principles are the most important. I do have computer application or media specific (watercolor, marker, etc) demonstrations, but often substitutions can be used instead.
In short, No.
An important part of how the courses work is that they are paired with text assignments, lists, demo examples, student examples, etc.
Site based lessons also allow the courses to be updated based on student experience and feedback.
In the menu and account side bar is the Order History option. You cancel easily your subscription from there.
Are you a company or educational institution that could benefit from accessing this site for your students, faculty, employees etc? The course layouts were originally done using Canvas LMS and I still have the exported versions of those which have the day to day layout of lecture notes and activities for students.
The impact of these assignments and concepts on students were seen daily in their enthusiasm and completed projects.
Please contact me directly to see if what we can work out.
